2017 Narrative Budget

The following is our church’s “Narrative Budget.”. In 2016, we’ve had 19 units (individuals and families) pledge to support the mission of the church. For 2017, we want to achieve the goal of 50 units! If 50 units would pledge $100 per month, then you all now become the authors and contributors to “Our Story” at Central Christian Church and meet the financial pledge goal of $72,750. In working with the staff, we can evaluate your ideas and passion for work in the community, and find the best practices to wisely use the gifts God has given us and our church to transform our community in positive, Christ-like ways.

“Through planning the work we do with our resources — physical, spiritual, emotional — we endeavor to meet the needs of our church, community, and world.” -Bill Peel

OUR STORY IS ONE OF TRANSFORMATION: NURTURING LIVES, SHAPING THE CITY, AND CHANGING THE WORLD

Austin, TX

This work of transformation is supported through the time, talent, and treasure of our church family. The ministries of the church invite your participation through your means to be part of this important mission. As we move into our 2017 Stewardship Campaign, celebrate with us the amazing work of our ministries and pledge your resources to this work.

Anticipated Contributions for 2017: $135,650

Our income from Sunday offerings, loose cash offerings and member gifts is estimated to be $62,900 next year. This means that we will need financial pledges totaling $72,750, in order to accomplish the work that we discern God is calling us to do as we live into OUR STORY.

OUR STORY SUSTAINS AND BUILDS A VIBRANT AND DYNAMIC WORSHIP LIFE – RELEVANT AND DEEPLY SPIRITUAL

Worship is central to our congregation’s work. Planning for Sunday morning worship, preparing sermons, conducting weddings, funerals, and other special services require a significant part of our pastor’s time.

Our music minister consults with the pastor, selects music, plans and conduct rehearsals for the choir, and practices and researches new music to introduce to the congregation. You directly support the ability for us to have the music, bulletins, candles, communion supplies, seasonal decorations for the sanctuary and supply ministers when our pastor is on vacation.

OUR STORY DEEPENS AND GROWS DISCIPLES OF CHRIST TO LIVE OUT GOD’S LOVE IN OUR LIVES

Love God. Love others.

Love God. Love others.

Under the leadership of our Director of Christian Programs, we have developed over the years, excellent programs for the youth and adults in the church. Developing and nurturing people of wisdom contributes to the great pool of agents of reconciliation in the world.

Our ministry is blessed by offering weekly Sunday school classes and a monthly women’s Bible study. The Disciple Men’s group also finds opportunities to serve both in the church and in the community as well. Curriculum materials and other supplies, expenses for training and up to date resources, and expenses of our youth mission trips are included here.

“We believe that Christians living in the culture today, a culture which is broken and full of need, model the spirit of Jesus by living out this multi-faceted view of true stewardship. Stewardship, in this sense, is a vocation where ‘our deep gladness meets the world’s deep need.’” -Frederick Buechner

OUR STORY DEMONSTRATES THAT GIFTS OF FINANCIAL STEWARDSHIP CAN MAKE A POSITIVE IMPACT IN OUR LOCAL, NATIONAL, AND INTERNATIONAL FAITH COMMUNITY

We are fortunate to have ancillary incomes, separate from the pledges and offerings, that enable us to have a dedicated, thoughtful and talented staff to serve and lead the congregation. This means that you receive from the church many blessings of care, nurture, faith development, and meaningful relationships. The church is a special place to discover how God’s presence is made most real for you. The staff helps guide you along your journey, we support you in your times of trouble, loss, and grief.

Pastoral care is a vital part of our work, especially for persons who are ill, hospitalized, bereaved, preparing for marriage, going through divorce, or facing other crises. Our church administrator provides information and other services to members such as the preparation of reports for the annual meeting of the congregation. Our monthly newsletter, the church website, other publications, social and fellowship events, Sun Radio, and our volunteer outreach projects enable us to sustain our common life together.

OUR STORY REFLECTS AND RESPONDS TO AUSTIN AND THE SURROUNDING METRO AREA

Transformed people transform people.

Transformed people transform people.

Intentionally remaining open and inclusive is key to our identity. We challenge ourselves to “agree to disagree.” It is part of our mission, as Christians, to welcome all. We intentionally work to learn and share the stories of our members, deepening the community and relationships we cherish. Our church family includes people of diverse backgrounds, beliefs, understandings, attitudes, and geography. Everyone is welcome to this church home.

We make meeting space available to various groups, including Alcoholics Anonymous, a recovery group meeting the needs of those in downtown Austin. Our pastor visits non-members, provides counseling services to residents of our community and participates as our representative in several community organizations.
