A Message from the Music Minister

A Message from the Music Minister

I’d like to take this opportunity to share something that I find truly special about Central Christian Church. It relates to the song the choir sang at the January 22nd service.

The song the choir sang was called “All Is Ready” by David Haas. It was a song shared with me as a request for the choir to sing. The requester had heard this song at another church, and found it to be beautiful, and inspiring. When he heard the song though, it also gave him a feeling of sadness…because the church where he heard the song did not live up to the lyrics of the song which repeats the phrase “All are welcome here”.

The choir has sung this song multiple times since it was originally shared with me. It has become one of my favorites, and I hope one of the favorites of the congregation as well. Not only is it beautiful, with both a tenor descant, and a soprano descant…but what makes it so special to me is that I feel Central Christian Church does live up to the inspiring lyrics of the song.

I know many people have felt welcomed at CCC, where at other churches they felt unwanted. Whenever we sing this song, I hope it acts as a reminder for us all to continue to accept those different than ourselves…and I hope the person that shared this song with the choir no longer feels the sense of sadness he felt when he first heard the song at a different church.

This reminds me of the Disciple’s affirmation we share each Sunday…

We believe Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, and accept Him as Lord and Savior.

We share communion together, worship the living God together, and look to serve the community together. In this way the congregation acts as one body, but with many faces. All of these individual faces have unique backgrounds, and unique stories that we can all learn from.

Whenever the choir sings this song, I hope that each person listening can be proud of how our congregation welcomes all, be reminded to continue extending that welcoming hand, and take peace in knowing that they themselves are welcome here.
