Carol Lydic

I grew up in LakeJackson, Texas. I married after high school and began nursing school. After graduating from Galveston College with a degree in nursing, I received my RN in early 1975.

After working in Starkville, Mississippi and Houston, I relocated to Beaumont and started my family. I now have a grown son and daughter along with two beautiful granddaughters.

After Beaumont, we moved to New Jersey for fifteen years. In late 2005, I moved to Austin. In 2013, after forty years of nursing, I retired. In addition to the Cardiac Care Unit, my experience has been in the operating room, in areas such as neurosurgery, spine surgery, orthopedics and general surgery. Cardiac care will always be special to me because that was my first specialty where I really began to understand the importance of continuing education for me, and education for the community.

In late 2016, I returned to nursing with a new sense of self discovery and commitment. I became a CPR and FIRST AID Instructor, but my true calling is volunteering as a nurse for the faith community. After I met Rev. Eric Gates, and joined Central Christian Church, I am pleased to have begun my Faith Community Nursing Ministry.
